Mowing performance

The robotic lawn mower has a cutting width of 10 inches. With regular wheels, it offers a cutting height that ranges between 1.8 inches and 2.8 inches. The lack of a floating deck means that the robotic lawn mower will cut unevenly when it crosses bumps. It can mow inclines and declines of up to 25 degrees. It can navigate narrow passageways easily. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a multi-zone mowing capability. You will have to move the unit from area to area yourself if you want it to mow different areas.

Smart features

The mower doesn’t feature auto programming. Other important features that it lacks are the rain sensor, remote control, the PIN code for operation and programming, and an alarm to indicate if the unit has left the perimeter. The fact that the robot lacks these features gives it a great disadvantage over other models on the market. These lacks have left a lot of customers unsatisfied with it as well. Also, the unit has the ability to return to the charging station when it senses that it runs out of battery only if you purchase the optional docking station. This station uses the same transmitter that comes with the robotic lawn mower in order to communicate with it. In addition, if you purchase the docking station, you will be able to set the unit to mow on a once-a-day schedule. Without it, it’s impossible to program the robot to do this. The unit is not smartphone compatible. This is another disadvantage that makes it less desirable than other available models. On the other hand, it features the useful delay start function that allows you to start the mower at a later time. You can delay the mowing session from 1 to 24 hours.

Design and accessories

The robotic lawn mower weighs 25 pounds. It measures 19.2 inches in length, 19.2 inches in width, and 11.75 inches in height. It’s fully weatherproof. It comes with 330 feet of perimeter wire and 200 pegs. Also, it comes with a set of replacement blades that you can use once the blades that come with the unit get dull. Unfortunately, it doesn’t feature a remote control.

Safety

As we already mentioned, this robotic lawn mower lacks a number of smart safety features. You can’t introduce a PIN code in order to prevent others from operating the unit. Also, it doesn’t feature an alarm to announce you if the unit leaves the set perimeter, or a child lock feature. Therefore, when it comes to safety, this model isn’t a desirable option to go with. On the up side, it features impressive obstacle detection. The robotic lawn mower immediately changes direction after bumping into an object. To determine whether it has bumped into something or not, the unit uses a combination of the inclinometer and the resistance from the wheels. In addition, when it detects obstacles, the blades stop working to ensure that the robot won’t damage itself or the object that it crosses paths with.

Maintenance

The mower is powered by lithium batteries that take about 3 hours to fully recharge. The batteries have a long lifespan, and they offer about 3 and a half hours of continuous operation. The unit itself comes ready to use, but it will take about 2-3 hours to stake perimeter wire around the borders of your lawn. Once you have installed the perimeter wire, simply connect the wire to the transmitter and the power supply, and you can start mowing after the initial charge. It is recommended that you change the 4 blades of the robotic lawn mower 1-2 per year. The process of replacing the blades is easy, being fully explained in the manual that comes with the robot.

Warranty and support

This robotic lawn mower comes with a 2-year manufacturer backed warranty. Extended warranties are available for an additional cost. The lithium batteries are backed by a 1-year warranty. In addition, the manufacturer offers unlimited support for this model. Therefore, even when it’s out of warranty, you can contact the customer support team to get the assistance that you need to get the unit fixed.

Final considerations

All in all, the model has some drawbacks and it may cost a little too much, but it’s still a great option for efficiently cutting the grass, especially if you have only one zone to mow. Also, it’s very important to mention the fact that it features a compact design that allows it to move around very easily, being able to change its direction right after it bumps into an obstacle. At the same time, it’s made of top-quality materials that make it very solid, so you don’t have to worry about any unpleasant incidents that may affect its construction. So, before deciding if this robot is or isn’t the best choice for you, we advise you to carefully consider both the advantages and disadvantages. After all, this will be a long-term investment and you want it to be a smart one.
